“How We Give Is Equally As Important As What We Give”

“So Let Each One Give As He Purposes In His Heart, Not Grudgingly Or Of Necessity; For God Loves A Cheerful Giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7 )

We Believe That Giving Is A Personal Choice, Is A Matter Of The Heart And Is Pleasing To God. A Heart Motivated By Grace, Gives. As Givers We Determine The Measure Of Our Return. We Have The Power To Determine How Much Or How Little. The Apostle Paul Says In 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 :

“Now This I Say, He Who Sows Sparingly Shall Also Reap Sparingly; And He Who Sows Bountifully Shall Also Reap Bountifully. Let Each One Do Just As He Has Purposed In His Heart; Not Grudgingly Or Under Compulsion; For God Loves A Cheerful Giver.”

A Cheerful Giver Is A Person Who Gives (Hence They Are Referred To As ‘Giver’) And When They Give They Do So Cheerfully, Merrily And Willingly. They Have The Right Attitude, Understand Why They Are Giving And To Whom They Are Giving. The Cheerful Giver Delights (Takes Pleasure) In Pleasing And Giving To God. God Is The Focal Point Of Their Giving.

God Loves Those Who Give, Not Out Of Duty But Because They Love Him And Love To Give To Him In A Joyful And Enthusiastic Manner. We Can Take From The Text In Corinthians That We Should Never Give To God On The Basis Of Coercion Or Constraint.

God Can Build His Kingdom With Or Without Us. However, Would You Not Agree That It Is Far Better To Be A Part Of Than Apart From The Building Of The Kingdom Of God Here On Earth. God Has Demonstrated That He Will Provide Whatever Is Necessary To Achieve His Purpose Exampled In The Account Of The Life Of Gideon Where God Used An Army Of Just 300 Soldiers – Judges 6 And 7. Gideon Under God’s Instructions Whittled Down The Army Of Soldiers From 32,000 To Just 300 Who Then Defeated The Invading Swarm Of The Enemies Of Israel! What A Privilege It Must Have Been To Be Numbered Amongst The 300 That Accomplished God’s Plan! It Is A Privilege To Give To God.
“So, Whether You Eat Or Drink Or Whatever You Do, Do All To The Glory Of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

GIFT AID

What Is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid Gives You An Extra 25p For Every £1 You Donate. Gift Aid Is An Income Tax Relief Designed To Benefit Charities And Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASC). If You’re A UK Taxpayer, Gift Aid Increases The Value Of Your Charity Donations By 25% Because The Charity Can Reclaim The Basic Rate Of Tax On Your Gift At No Extra Cost To You.

How Does Gift Aid Work?

The Process Is Simple; All You Need To Do Is Fill Out A Gift Aid Declaration Form. This Is A Statement From You To The Charity Confirming That You Want To Donate Through Gift Aid And Receive Tax Back On Your Donation. Charities Don’t Pay Tax On Most Types Of Income, Which Is Why The Tax Paid On Financial Gifts To Charity Can Be Claimed Back. Your Donations Won’t Qualify For Gift Aid If They Are More Than Four Times What You’ve Paid In Tax That Tax Year. If You Stop Paying Enough Tax At Any Point, You Must Let The Charity You’re Donating To Know.

Am I Eligible For Gift Aid?

For A Charity To Claim Gift Aid On Your Donation You Must First Have Paid UK Income Or Capital Gains Tax That Financial Year. The Tax You Pay Must Be Equivalent To The Amount Of Gift Aid The Charity Will Reclaim On Your Donation That Tax Year, (And Will Be Claimed By Other Charities And CASCs). VAT And Council Tax Do Not Meet These Criteria. Note You Cannot Make Donations On Behalf Of Someone Else Or A Company.

What If I Pay Higher Rate Tax?

If You’re A Higher Rate Taxpayer, You Can Claim Additional Tax Benefits For The Donations You Make To Charity, Which You Can Keep Or Pass On To A Charitable Organisation. Simply Indicate How Much You’ve Donated When Completing Your Tax Self-Assessment Form. Find Out More About Gift Aid From HMRC
